The BBC has just broadcast a ‘home video’ of our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, saying he has to ‘self-isolate’ in his official residence.
According to him, he has had a ‘high temperature’, and a ‘persistent cough’. After testing, it was confirmed that he has the virus.
During the broadcast of three minutes or so long, he didn’t cough once. He didn’t even try to suppress a cough. And he looked very well, not at all like someone suffering from a high temperature.
According to the news report, he was ‘tested at Ten Downing Street by NHS staff’. Presumably some of those same overworked NHS staff run off their feet caring for seiously ill people in nearby London hospitals. And using test kits that are supposedly in ‘short supply’. And look how fast his results came back! Same day service, it would seem.
One of his cronies took to the telephone, stating, “This shows no matter how high you are, whether a Prince, or Prime Minister, nobody is safe from contracting this virus”.
That short statement from former Conservative Prime Minister Iain Duncan-Smith says it all. Tell the plebs the Prince has got it. Then tell us that Johnson has got it, and that’s supposed to make us feel better when one of our untested relatives dies in isolation.
My message to both Boris and Prince Charles is that I am not falling for it. Not until I see your bodies being carried out in coffins for incineration.
And even then, I want to look inside to make sure.
Great article, I was intrigued

For our politicans and other officials we only have to close the airports, and they will stay by us till the end. God for sake, the BER airport at Berlin has not become finished, before the outbreak of Covid-19. But you can be sure, they will not go all into self-isolation. Someone is keeping the light on, preventing the doors beeing locked forever. 😉 Michael

Maybe, lets hope so, Pete! There is a lot of “great speeches”, but honestly no prevention for this. Just watched a documentary about. Our German government got informed in 2012, what will happen after a virus from China will arrive. They archived the study, somewhere in the Bundestag. 😉

Whether he has it or not is open for debate. I am pretty sure I had it and I managed to work throughout and I was out running again as soon as my quarantine ended. I never had the cough or fever though.

Don’t know but most scientists agree (though the media doesn’t report it) that 80 percent of cases of the virus are mild. Maybe he and Charles have one of the mild cases. They said there was a cruise ship and thought most people tested positive most of them, practically all, had no symptoms or fever. I guess I can’t get on the bandwagon in the two countries of wishing death on people and living in a climate of sitting on my arse waiting for death to come. Good luck to you all.

I just want to quickly add that I don’t mean this as an argument to what you are saying because I completely understand what you are saying. Despite being a communications major in college at one point, I am sometimes not very good at it. And I mean good luck to you all (and us all) sincerely, not sarcastically! I often get myself in trouble in the comment section because I’m thinking out loud and it sounds like I’m arguing.

No problem at all Lisa. I have a lifelong resentment of the Royal Family and the privileged upper-class in British society. I don’t believe anything any of them say. I would never expect you, or anyone else, to feel the same, especially when you live in a Republic.
I don’t see it as arguing at all, and always appreciate any comment from you, even if you are not in agreement with what I am saying. 🙂

I sort of understand it. Honestly, I’m a bit sick of hearing about them over here because our media acts like they are our royalty. If I see a story about them I always say “So? WHO CARES!?” I don’t wish ill on them but I don’t care what they do with their lives either. I don’t need to know they are going on vacation, or leaving the family, or just potty trained kid number 19, or whatever. They aren’t anyone to me. Of course, neither are “celebrities’ over here – “movie stars” etc.

We noticed the absence of coughing (coffin?) too. But if it goes round the House of Commons in a big way the probability is that more than one of them will die. If the Lords get it then quite a few will die.

No worries. I normally wouldn’t wish harm on anyone, but when you see people who constantly do bad things and hurt multitudes of people it is harder to feel sad about their demise if it happens. Kind of like how most people have a hard time feeling sorry for a child molester or rapist who winds up dead.

I’m not going to criticize your PM, Pete. It’s just a courtesy that I have, though I’m sure you wouldn’t mind. I will, however, take this opportunity to rag on Trump.
With the exception of possibly Idi Amin, I can’t imagine anyone mishandling the coronavirus pandemic any worse. I hope I’m wrong about this.
In Nashville, for example we have 300 cases and, so far, 12 hospitalizations. That sounds relatively benign until you do the math. That’s a 36% hospitalization rate, way above the Center of Disease Control’s projection of what a severe pandemic would constitute and we haven’t got to the peak, which duration lasts 21 days. If this trend holds, we are in big trouble right here in Nashville–a metropolitan area of 2 million people–and our governor won’t order a shelter in place.

I’m somehow missing that math–36% of 300 is about 100. What am I not getting right, or is it a typo?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Bad math on my part, is what it is. More like 3.6% but of course that’s not right either, but it’s a lot closer to the correct–I think–4%. So at this point, Nashville is running behind pandemic projections. That’s a good thing. That’s a hopeful thing. Thanks for the correction.

I’ve read this from several sources – the idea that Prince Charles doesn’t have the virus but it’s a good “look” for the Royal family. Interesting and so sad if true, and a real statement about our times that it COULD be the case…here in the US, many NBA basketball players tested positive after a first was announced, raising the question: how did they all get tests when there was such a short supply here? Hmmmm…..$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ perhaps?

You can still pay for tests here, if you can afford it. But why are they tying up resources for private patients, instead of testing front-line doctors and nurses? Shocking.
