The summer season is upon us. Bloggers go on holiday, or take a break away from computers to enjoy better weather.
So in a bid to enthuse everyone and giving you a choice, I am offering not only the chance of a fiction guest post, but also allowing you to challenge me.
This is the email address I would prefer you to send it to. petejohnson50@yahoo.com
1) Story Time With (insert your name here)
You can send me one of your stories, and it can be pure fiction, or a true story about something that happened in your life. Please keep it to 1500 words or less, or most people may not read it. If you want to include an image, send that to me separately by email.
2) Send Me An Ending.
You can challenge me by sending me a story ending, and I will do my best to write a short story (or serial) based on that. It can be one line, or a whole paragraph, the choice is yours.
(And not just ‘The End’, please.) 🙂
Noticed and forwarded! Thanks in advance, Pete! Sorry, i had some disturbing weeks in the past. Now i am heading back on the trail. Best wishes, Michael

What a great offer, Pete! I must confess that my brain is melting in the heat and my imagination isn’t doing any better, but I’ll keep thinking and will share this with others who might have a few more functioning neurons left. Happy summer all!

Thanks, Olga. I have had two submissions already. Darlene’s was posted this morning, and I have one coming up from Teagan too. Some other readers have said they will work on something to send me, but I know summer is a busy time for everyone.
Best wishes, Pete.

Somehow I immediately knew what my story would be, something I have always wanted to ‘say’, but my blog is not the place. So, do I write a story or do I give you an ending? That’s a hard choice. What is the deadline?
LikeLiked by 1 person
There is no deadline, Jennie. As it is something you have ‘always wanted to say’, I think it would be best for you to write the whole story on this occasion.
Best wishes, Pete.

This sounds like great fun, and I would love to participate, but sadly I’ve just never had a talent for writing fiction. However, I shall ponder and if I can think of something, I’ll definitely send it to you!

I hope you do, Jill.

The End.

Trust you to come up with that. 🙂 I will give it a go.

PS: Here’s an ending to challenge you.
*Shiloh heaved a sigh of relief, watching the form of the enigmatic carnie limp toward the wagons. As the tents folded and stakes were pulled, what strange feats awaited in the next town?*

That’s a good one, Teagan. As I have little experience of American travelling shows, it will take some thought. But it will be done!
Best wishes, Pete. x

You could always make the setting a sort of alternative world, and not necessarily have to worry so much about exact facts. Or it doesn’t have to be American. I tried to leave everything open for your interpretation, including not mentioning gender.
I look forward to seeing your story. Like so many others, I do have trouble keeping up, so I hope I don’t miss it. 🙂

Pete, you’ve clearly tickled everyone’s curiosity. This is a marvelous idea. I’d be honored if you would host me. Give me a little while to see what I have (or to write something new). I will email you. Hugs.

This sounds like a fun idea. Will I follow through, or will it seep through like most other things? My mind is a sieve these days.

Interesting idea, Pete. I’ve had trouble keeping up with blogging anyway and it’s even more difficult in the summer. I hope to catch up with your serials very soon. In the meantime, I might just accept your offer and send you something. 🙂

Ending– “And when he looked back at the exploding planet, from the porthole of the great rocket, he thought of the many ways he might have saved Tharoahs without having to resort to the use of the dreaded “G” bomb against the Swindler and all his evil forces.

He had been appointed king by common consent of the friendly natives of the planet and they were always at war with the dark-souled “Swindler”– a green-skin-colored- humanoid with the personality of a hitler–and eventually when he had been worn down by the war between his kingdom and that of the swindler, he dropped the mighty G-bomb on the Swindleer’s kingdom and the bomb was so powerful that it started an ever-widening crack in the planet and he and all his people had to escape in a giant rocket ark they had been building –and they did escape…and landed on another more fertile planet… where they started their civilization all over again …

John, I think you should write the story, and I will post it on my blog. It would be a nice diversion for you from writing about US politics.

The story has been under development for years …it would require a book … I am not disposed toward actually writing fiction down …I am too lazy for that.. but thanks for the suggestion.
