We hold on to all those photographs for the joyous memories and yet (in my case anyway) each time we see them the heart is wrenched again. How cute Ollie must have been with all his wrinkles. I would have loved him. He could not have had a better life or been more loved.
Oh Pete I wish I could tell you different but I know from personal experience that it doesn’t get easier so much reminds us of walks we took or just those special moments Hugs x
It took a long while for him to grow into that bed, and it was a very soft one. When he was bigger we got him a bed twice that size, and it had memory foam.
I cannot blame Julie for sobbing…I was on the verge of tears myself when I looked back in my mind’s eye about the many wonderful, touching and precious little stories you and Ollie shared over the years…I always thought He was the “Cutest Dog In The World” as you might recall.
Thank you for sharing, Pete. Your and Julie’s anguish is the price of love and touches us all. I think several of us have tears in our eyes reading this post and all the comments. Warmest wishes to you both. And it is wonderful to see pictures of Ollie again xxx
I was thinking about him yesterday as I stood next to the plot where three of our dogs are buried. Peace to you both.

Thank you Elizabeth. Two calendar months today, and it doesn’t get any easier.

It takes us at least a year each time before the trauma of the loss is replaced by the joy of sharing stories about each one.

Oh, what a beautiful boy he was!!! You and he were … made for each other, I think. Thanks for sharing these pics … I adore every one of them!

We were definitely a ‘pair’, Jill. No other dog could have suited me better.

David: “Not exactly. It’s…raining cats and dogs in my heart.”

When these came up on her Facebook memories, Julie sobbed. But better to have them than not.

Aw, what good memories. There’s the memories of the heart but photographs make it all the better.

Much easier with a phone too, he rarely recognised a phone as a camera.

You can see why we wanted him. He was as cute as a button. He eventually grew into most of his puppy wrinkles.
Best wishes, Pete.

It is so easy to remember him as a tiny pup like that. It almost seems like yesterday. Julie cried a lot when they came up on her Facebook Memories.
Best wishes, Pete.

The memory foam must have helped prevent sore joints in his later years?

He certainly slept well on that bed, and we replaced it every couple of years to make sure it supported him during the night.
