Lewis Capaldi is a very popular Scottish singer-songwriter, and still only 27 years old. This song topped the UK charts in 2018, and the US charts the year after. He is one of my wife’s favourites, and she has been to see him live in concert. I haven’t heard that much of his music, but I did like the song that made him famous.

I applaud any geezer for listening to “new” music and artists. Which means any commentary on the ubiquitous style of modern vocal phrasing is off the table. Good for you. Good pop song, good video. I tell all the greatest hits of my teens people, Yeah it was good, but I heard it the first time. What else ya got?

He’s brilliant but hasn’t been performing the last few years. I’ve read a lot about his struggles from anxiety and the pressure to perform. I believe I also read somewhere that he has Tourette’s Syndrome and is rather self-conscious about it.

Yes, he has a lot of personal issues, including worrying about his weight. I believe he didn’t cope well with being in the public eye.

He’s a great emotional singer. Due to his issues, he once forgot the words to one of his songs but his fans jumped right in and finished it for him.

I’ve had no idea what’s been in ‘the charts’ for many years now, but I’d heard of this lad — maybe seen him on Later, with Jools Holland? I didn’t know this song hitherto, but it’s a powerful ballad, and well sung. Cheers, Jon.
