This February has started out exceptionally mild. Continuing the overall theme of a mild winter, here in Norfolk at least.
I am not fooled of course. We still have the rest of the month to go, and March yet to come. However, I cannot argue about the recent temperatures. Two or three days of bright sunshine, with a high of 16 C (61 F) yesterday, and a warm walk with Ollie. Sadly, it is not enough heat to dry out the lingering mud, but for once, I am not complaining.
The TV weather forecasters are getting very excited. The high temperatures are set to continue throughout this week, due to an unusual ‘bend’ in the Gulf Stream, drawing warm air from as far away as North Africa. Last night, one weather presenter was predicting a new record high for Britain in February, which should arrive by next Friday or Saturday. 18 C (64.5 F) is unknown in this country during February. If we achieve that somewhere, it will break all previous records for this month.
But more importantly, it will mean that I can start wearing my shorts again, at least one month early.
(Like the ones on the left. Not those retro things on the right. 🙂 )
Although it was nice to run about in the park with Little O in the weekend sunshine it is making me a bit worried about climate change. It’s not supposed to be balmy in February.

I watched a special report on the BBC weather. It’s just a dip in the Gulf Stream at the moment. It is sucking up warm air from North Africa, so we are experiencing this ‘false Spring’. Once it ‘undips’, we will be back to normal. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

It’s dull today, Wilma, but supposed to be very good by the weekend. Fingers crossed!

I’ve never been one for shorts, even now that I live in Barcelona again, but I’ve taken a liking to colourful and very thin trousers for the summer. (I must confess men’s and women’s legs has been a matter of debate in the summer when going for walks with my aunt and mother…) I hope you can liberate the shorts soon. 🙂

Thanks, Olga. I am OK with my legs. They are the only thing about me that I am reasonably happy with. 🙂

Whilst I ended up working in a t-shirt yesterday I’m not quite ready for shorts, whilst sunny it was still only 10c (50f). Which like your weather is quite unusual for this time of year.
I’m glad you picked the shorts on the left, I’m dreading the day that the retro shorts are all the rage as I will get them a year down the line in the second hand shops! Even without an audience they just wouldn’t feel right 🙂

Those retro shorts are already ‘the thing’ with younger people, apparently. Fashion going full circle!
Best wishes, Pete.

Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts Pete. Alas, here in Maine it’s still in the teens and twenties, with snow on the ground and more coming.☃️

It hasn’t warmed up that much more yet. Two days to go, apparently. 🙂

Looks nice! Whats about team clothing, meaning similar shorts for Ollie, too? LoL Michael

Ollie would look so funny wearing shorts! 🙂 🙂

🙂 Our postman wears short trousers EVERY day, come rain come shine. Mind you, when we had -2°, he wore a hat.

I don’t know what that means, John. But I think longer shorts are definitely the way to go, at my age! 🙂

You were a step ahead Pete, as these shorts are the rage now, and you were ahead of the curve!

And in Arizona where we can usually wear shorts in February, it is so cold it may freeze Wednesday night (sadly). The freeze will kill off all our winter flowers.

I’m sorry to hear that, Luanne. But you have cactus, and mountains, so still lots to enjoy. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Haha, yes, it’s true. If the rain keeps up, though, we worry that the 100 year old saguaros will topple over.

Better enjoy it while you can. We know how fleeting it can be! After having a mild January here in the Pacific Northwest, we got hit by our snowiest February on record. Keeps life interesting. 🙂

Just the opposite here, Pete. Yesterday, I had an encounter with some tiny snowflakes in the western part of the Las Vegas Valley! This week, we’ll have one nighttime low of 27° F (-3° C) and one daytime high of 43° F (6° C). I don’t think we’re breaking any records, but this is highly unusual. Can you imagine? The girls are on the Strip are actually having to cover up!

If girls in Las Vegas are covering up, things must be bad indeed! 🙂

64 degrees in February! Yes, pull out the shorts. I like the ones on the right, even better if they were a tad longer. Best to you, Pete.

We are on a roller coaster of weather. Predictions have not been too accurate of late. We live in an isothermal belt which generally keep our temperatures a bit milder. Shorts are one thing, but what about the shoes?
LikeLiked by 1 person
That’s the dilemma, Maggie. Warm enough for shorts, but too muddy for casual for shoes. Shorts with wellington boots is not a good look, for anybody. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Ha!! And how things have come back … my sons now wear the ones on the right, but also whilst rolling them up. I do try and tell them it’s not a good look, but apparently they know better.
