For the next 7-8 days at least, I will not always be around on the blogs. We have a painter coming in to decorate some rooms, as well as new windows being fitted to the whole house.
Things will have to be moved around of course, and I will have to try to keep out of the way. I should get some chance to look at the blog in the evenings, and hopefully reply to comments sometimes, as well as reading your posts.
But I have to apologise in advance if I end up missing many of them completely, and if some comments you leave might appear to have been ignored.
I wanted to let you know, in case you wondered where I had gone, maybe even thought I might have finally dropped off Pete’s perch. 🙂
Best wishes to all, Pete.
You are so polite. Even though I’m reading this out of date, it still brings a warm smile for good manners. Pete’s Perch wouldn’t be a bad log title if you ever change your name here.

Disruption reigns in our house too, so I know what you are going through – well, sort of. Our main bathroom is being remodelled and the front room tiled. On top of that, I’ve had no keyboard for two days so this comment is belated, Meet you on the other side.

Thanks, Roland. Your disruption sounds much worse than mine. 🙂

I had some windows replaced a couple of years ago, but they were only the front windows, and they were very good. Not so the company who were supposed to put the scaffolding up, and were late to come and late to take them out as well… But, as you say, one never knows how these things will go. I hope the disruption and the problems are kept to a minimum (although I saw some of the comments… Oh dear). It’s good to know your absence is not due to any personal or family issues. I’m sure everything will be good afterwards, but it can be a pain while it’s going on…
Good luck, Pete!

No need for scaffolding at least, as it’s a bungalow. 🙂

The OH’s worst nightmare! We have had windows replaced in all our homes! Next one I think shall have to be a new-build. Can’t go through that again. And we desperately need to decorate our entire house, but that will be a nightmare too. Might be easier to move…
(Just find a warm room and hide with the computer) Oh, and get lots of tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits in.

Thanks, Jude. They say they will do it all in one day. Let’s hope so… 🙂

Depends on whether they hit any problems. Let’s hope not!

We have a problem already. Damp outside wall, bleeding through to the room being decorated. I should have known we couldn’t just be ‘lucky’. Builder coming at 5 pm. Fortunately, he is the husband of a good friend. 😦
Best wishes, Pete.

New windows should help cut down any drafts. A new coat of paint sounds very cheery for dark days. Enjoy.

“I might have finally dropped off Pete’s perch.”
In other words: “Gone fishing! And maybe I’ll take a long nap afterwards, and then take my sweet time dropping off the catch.”
By the way, I prefer trout over perch, but I won’t carp about it, as long as I’m invited to the fish fry.
