I still can’t seem to shake my blogging malaise. I may have to resort to reblogging some of my oldest posts, just to keep my interest going.
—————————————————————————————
Yesterday was the warmest day of the year so far. I actually felt uncomfortably warm during the night, finding myself sleeping outside the covers at one stage. That warmth is triggering thundery rain apparently, forecast to arrive in Beetley soon.
—————————————————————————————-
One blogger I follow mentioned that 2022 seems to be going by very quickly. I know how she feels. It seems like only yesterday that it was my birthday, not two months ago.
—————————————————————————————-
Ollie is happy enough, so that makes me feel calm. Despite his arthritis becoming visibly worse, he is still playing with his toys and enjoying his walks. It feels strange to imagine life without him. So I try not to.
—————————————————————————————–
The politics in this country is still disgusting me, and the war continues in Ukraine with Russia appearing to be unable to make further progress in their invasion. Another mass shooting in America, but they will never give up their guns. Israeli Army and police still attacking Palestinians in Israel, and Britain and Ireland and the EU squabbling about Northern Ireland. At times I grow weary of this world.
——————————————————————————————
Wherever you are, and whatever you are doing, I hope you have a happy Sunday.

Hi Pete this is Lorraine I came to your blog especially to see how you were doing. I sensed tha you were feeling very world weary, and I was right. I also understand exactly where you are coming from and must admit I feel the same too. I am wondering what has happened with your eye test and your licence. I am going to have hubby look down your blog for me. To see if there is any news please please keep on blogging i would miss you if you went. Later if I can will have hubby set Voiceover going to read your reblogs to me. With much love Lorraine x

Thank you, dear Lorraine.
I have had to supply more medical history to the DVLA, and send them an authorisation to contact my hospital consultant, and my GP. That was a week ago, and I just have to wait to hear the decision now.
Best wishes, Pete. x

If I lived closer, Larry and I would take you and Julie out to a fabulous dinner. We’d laugh, pound our fists on the table, and order more wine! We put life aside for a few hours and just enjoy good conversation, good food, and a spectacular dessert! Maybe when I get to London someday! In the meantime I enjoyed your tea last night! Be good to yourself Pete! It’ll come back💕C

Thanks, Cheryl. Once I get this driving licence issue sorted, my muse will eventually return.
(I wrote a short story today, that’s a start)

My dear Pete, I share your sentiments. This world seems so strange and odd to me. Did I become a grumpy old lady? Stay safe and well-

Life can suck if we let it. The best course is “don’t let it”. We are each unique. There is a path to accepting it all to be at peace for each of us. You have to seek it though. It’s there, but it won’t come to you.
Cheers Pete.

I had a lot of fun driving emergency ambulances, until they made them longer and wider, and we couldn’t get through so many gaps or narrow estate entrances..

Reading a reblog is fine by me, Pete! Glad Ollie is happy; senior pets can be a bit draining emotionally at times but the joy they bring far outweighs that. All the best, Elizabeth.

I have the blogging malaise as well. However, I do not impact as many people as you do. Mya I suggest a line from Peanuts, as Snoopy is starting his novel “It was a dark and stormy night.” as a place to start. Warmest regards, Theo

“They will never give up their guns.” A sad sad truth Pete. As for blogging, I have been sharing other stories and older ones as well, as the reaction to some stories, or lack thereof, makes me question wasting my time.

I still get great response to anything I post, John. I just need to get my thoughts away from driving licences and focus back on the blog.

Life in Ukraine must be terrible. So many people dying needlessly on both sides. It is sad that wars have always been a part of human history. Hope ollie feels better. Liked your post so why do you think that you have a blogging malaise? Regards

It is because I am having to fight to renew my driving licence, and might have it permanently revoked for medical reasons. The authorities are bureaucratic, and it has taken since February. If I lose my licence, life in an isolated village will be very difficult.
Best wishes, Pete.

It isn’t just you, Pete. The year is flying by. When I was a kid 6 weeks until the summer holidays seemed to go on forever. Our perspective changes, I guess. I have been in a funk myself. Thank God I moved to the country. It has made life bearable. I understand your feelings about Ollie. Alone, that is enough to unsettle a person. All you can do is enjoy every moment with him and know that you are giving him the best life.

(1) My advice, Pete? You guessed it: “More guest posts!”
(2) Don’t let the DVLA rain on your parade! And don’t let them steal your thunder!
(3) Hire a couple of carpenters, and it will be yesterday once more!
(4) Pete and Ollie. A boy and his dog. Young blood!
(5) If more people attended mass, there would be fewer mass shootings!
(6) The happiest sundae is one with a cherry on top!

This certainly does happen. I have been remiss myself. I would rather not. At the presence it is boxing things up to move, and it will be on writing once I am past that. The rental house is ready June 1st. Crazy isn’t it? But it will move me forward. May all be well with you! Pamela

It is another strange year, Pete, and I am not surprised you are feeling unsettled. There are plenty of things going on here at the moment, but my writing seems to be mostly reviews and the articles I write for the radio. I hope things improve, although reblogging old posts sounds like a great idea as well, as I always discover many I’ve missed.

The blog isn’t discouraging me, John, it is the issue over my driving licence. It is never hot enough for long enough here for me to invest in air-conditioning.

Dear Pete,
I hope your motivation to devote more time to your blog will come back soon.
Sometimes you have phases when you don’t feel like doing anything. That too will pass.
(I hope google translator is doing its job right.)
Glad Ollie had his appointment.
I think that time goes by faster and faster as you get older.
It’s supposed to be up to 18 degrees today. I will be cycling to my daughter’s home to spend time with her and my little grandson. It’s going to be a nice Sunday. In the evening a small meal with my partner in a local restaurant is planned.
Tomorrow we will travel to Berlin for a few days, I have never been there.
The weather should stay good too. What more do I want?
I wish you and your family a nice Sunday.
Best wishes, Irene

I have been to Berlin, Irene. It was during the time of the DDR, and we stayed in the east. We did travel to the west too, using the U-Bahn at the Friedrichstrasse Station border. It is a very interesting city, you will enjoy it.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes, it was very intersting in Berlin. We also stayed in a Hotel in the East of Berlin. We go to the Friedrichstrasse too. We had a boat tour on the Spree an on the Wannsee. It was really great and we always had good weather. On the last day we went to Potsdam and saw the Sanssouci Palace. That was very impressive.
But I’m also very happy to be back home now. It’s nicest at home.
I wish you a very nice Sunday afternoon.
Best wishes, Irene

I have a theory that as you get older you feel more and more out of step with the modern world, and this is a preparation for death which might come as a welcome relief. But not yet though!

Sorry to hear about your discomfiture Pete: I can totally understand though. I am also in something of a hiatus as well, because my Macbook is in for repair and I’m having to manage on a mobile; although newer than my previous one, it’s still not an enjoyable experience for me :p I just hope the Macbook doesn’t cost too much to repair.
