I have been very happy to be notified of no less that nine new followers on this blog today, and one on my other blog. Two of those were entrepreneurs seeking to advertise something, and were ignored. One lady had a nice website, and I was able to read some posts, leave a comment, and thank her for following my blog.
However, the rest had no link to their own sites. Despite some having detailed profiles typed out, and using gravatars, I am unable to find their blogs through the information supplied. Sadly, I am not only unable to thank them, but also unable to follow them, should I wish to do so. So, if you don’t know how to do that, here is a handy link.
You are missing out on communication, likes, comments, and potential followers.
Let’s face it, that’s what blogging is all about, so you are likely to become very frustrated with the process, if nobody can ever find you.
My best wishes to all new bloggers and followers. Pete.

That little square photo of your face is your Gravatar. Or in my case, my dog as a pup. Sometimes, they are abstract designs, computer-generated.
Hope that helps.
Best wishes, Pete.

Thank you!! I had a feeling that was the case but the way it is sometimes written about makes it seem top secret. Appreciate the clarification.

Wow thank you for your insight! I love blogging about Disney World! Although I love making Mickey ear headbands and would love to sell them, I can’t due to Disney Copyright 😉 my blog is bloomsandbeautifuls.wordpress.com I focus on spreading the Disney Magic and building family vacation memories

I have never been to any of the Disney Parks, but if you get pleasure from them, I am happy for you.

This is great advice, Pete!😍 I have had many followers with the same issue in the past. I don’t know how I missed so many posts of yours!😲

They are still following with no gravatar links. It’s a shame, as I can’t find them on WP to say thanks. 🙂
Best wishes,, Pete. x

Well that stinks. Hmm.. Sometimes I know people just sign up and don’t make a blog they do it just so they can view and comment on other’s accounts. Like my girlfriend has an account but no blog or url, it’s just a simple account for viewing purposes.

Not connecting your site (s) to your gravatar is very common. Around 75% of everyone who follows my blog hasn’t done it.
Hence the tip. 🙂
Thanks for reading, and leaving a comment.

I had some positive reaction to it, Carol. However, today’s new followers have no links to their sites…
You can take a horse to water…as the old saying goes. 🙂

Got some new followers too Pete and plenty of spam mails. I was irked by one who just commented to follow her on her blog. She is new in blogging.

I get those too, Arlene. Their comment is just “Follow Me”, with a link inserted. I delete them.
Best wishes, Pete.

I am bad and have not checked who is following me, I figure if they don’t say hi or like a post they are not worth my time. I always reply/visit the ones who do though.

Fair enough, FR. I get email notifications of followers who seem OK, but have zero information.

I think I have a gravatar profile, anyway, I thank you so much and very best wishes 🙂🙏

Thanks, LM. Best wishes back! Your site is NOT attached to your Gravatar profile, so follow the link. 🙂
It does work from highlighting your blog name tough.

Of course you need to have a worthless press account before you can comment on other people’s blogs on that platform and unfortunately I do not have one anymore.

well I guess I still have an account over there even though I thought I had canceled it out. Still have to jump through three different hoops to comment.

John, I have not had any notifications from you, despite signing up, and getting a confirmation email. If you have posted today, you might need to sort that out. (Same with chuq)
Best wishes, Pete.

I have had my share of people like that as well. And as you say, that’s definitely one of the best things about blogging. The interacting with everyone. Like you though I am at my limit for the number of blogs that I am following (as much as I would want to, I just can’t follow everyone). But this is a great post and very helpful for a lot of people I’m sure 🙂

Thanks, Michel. I am trying to help those who may not be up to speed. This doesn’t include those ‘outlook.com’ scammers though. 🙂
I cannot follow many of them back, but I will read their blogs, and leave a ‘thank you’.
Best wishes, Pete.

I am going through the same situation here, I have people that ONLY VISITED AND LOOKED. In my head I’m like:Come on people let me know something, help me out here…. I love to write but at this point I just wonder will anyone even see or read my writing.

And as an afterthought. Most ‘readers’ only visit and look. On a regular day, I might get 300 views, from 120 visitors. But only perhaps 25 likes, and 30 comments. It never reflects the real engagement on your blog, worldwide. Stay positive! 🙂

Could be, Marina. As I said, a few had profiles written up, but no connection to their site.
Just giving them the chance to get it sorted. 🙂
(These are not the outlook.com people. I ignore those)
