The official figures are in. On the TV News last night, it was announced that February 2024 was the wettest on record. (Since records began)
That will come as no surprise to most residents of Great Britain, I assure you.
And it feels like March has started out with the intention of claiming a similar record.
And the drought here, Pete. And last year wasn’t good either, so… If only things would get spread around a bit more… We’d trade a bit of sun for some more water regularly.

I would happily accept that trade, Olga.
Best wishes, Pete.

I guess it took a month to get over to you. We had the wettest January since 1905.

It was also the warmest, relative to usual winter temperatures. At least we didn’t have snow.

We are having similar problems with the records. Warmest regards, Ed

I’m sure they will all be broken within five years. Hottest/coldest/wettest/driest/windiest, etc.

Who wouldn’t be down, Pete? It’s pouring here, and rain is is in the forecast for the week.

It does get old after a while. It has been fairly damp here too but not on your scale.

I managed to get out walking this afternoon, when it actually stopped raining!

I don’t want to rain on your parade, but February’s record will be broken next year. Count on it!

I’m sick of it too. Rain, rain, rain – and it usually starts as soon as I step out of the house.

I enjoyed a rare break in the rain this afternoon. It hasn’t been raining for over 3 hours now, and it is very quiet without the noise of it hitting the windows.
Best wishes, Pete.

We have the warmest winter on record in most of the US, with snowfall down by more than 60% win Buffalo…and when Buffalo doesn’t get snow you KNOW something is wrong! Find a way to save that “liquid gold” because most of the world needs it desperately!

As usual, there seems to be no real effort to store the rainwater, John. It is running off the fields onto the roads, then down into drains. If we have a hot summer, they will no doubt be predicting water shortages by July.
Best wishes, Pete.

Pete, we have the same issue in LA…however, when it snows in the mountains in California, they do have a series of dams and reservoirs that actually take the water as it melts…that is our drinking water and farm water for the summer and fall!

Far from being liquid gold, it’s turned most of the land to mud and the farmers can’t plant anything, which will no doubt lead to further food price rises. Maybe we should start growing rice!

We might well live to see paddyfields in the UK at this rate, Annabelle.

Does it always rain so much in February?

Not like this. It is at least twice the usual expected rainfall, if not more.
