For a long time now, there has been a sizable herd of cows and their calves grazing on Hoe Rough. This has meant that I have been unable to go there with Ollie, and have had to find other places to go, to extend his walks. Earlier this week, the herd was removed, so I took the camera over there this afternoon on our walk.
On the way, Beetley Meadows was finally showing some Autumn colours in the surrounding trees.
This tree has fallen into the river, and been left there by the local Nature Trust. Last week, I spotted some squirrels using it as a bridge across the river. So today, I waded into the middle, to get a photo of it. Sadly, no squirrels crossed it when I was there.
Some of the trees have already lost most or all of their leaves, like this one on the riverbank.
We crossed the main road, and went over to Hoe Common. I got as far as the private lane that leads to a large farm.
For November, it was excellent weather, even though it was almost dark when I got back at 3:45 pm.
Beautiful photographs, stunning. ❤ 😄

Thanks very much, DPB. Ollie is notoriously camera shy, but I have managed to ‘get him’ over the years.

A really fairy taile like landscape. Looking at the images i imagine Robbin Hood waits behind the next tree. 😉 Michael

Thanks, Michael. I think Robin Hood would be happy enough here, and not notice too many changes. But Sherwood Forest is much bigger! 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

I know Pete! Perhaps there will be a remake of the movie in Beetley Forest. 😉

I think this is what depresses me most about winter Pete, these very short days. Sunshine makes it more bearable.

It’s barely daylight now, just after 8. By 4:15 it will be pitch dark again. It certainly flattens out any good mood I might have, that’s for sure.
Best wishes, Pete. x

The private lane is magnificent! Thanks for the beautiful views of Beetley. Glad you and Ollie can now walk there again.

Thanks, Jennie. Once you get past the few houses around here, the countryside does open up. Unfortunately, much of it is also privately owned. 🙂
I’m pleased that you enjoyed the photos.
Best wishes, Pete.

Ollie! I know, he is the star of this blog.
Lots of rain today, unfortunately, and more tomorrow. Oh well, we had some nice days…
Best wishes, Pete.

If it makes you feel any better we’ve already had a few inches of snow here with more on the way tomorrow.

Nooo! Not snow! Sorry to hear that, Kim.

I have to admit it’s very pretty. By February I probably won’t be saying that though.😁

Sunday (11/18/18), in the company of a friend and his adult daughter, I scaled the summit that overlooks the Calico Hills II parking area over in Red Rock Canyon, just west of Las Vegas. The Calico Hills are weathered Aztec sandstone formations. The weather was absolutely perfect.

That sounds great, David. A bit more exciting that a walk around Hoe, I’m guessing. 🙂

What a great place for dog walking – even if we only got one pic of Ollie! We had a glorious weekend of sunshine. When out walking on Saturday I even had to take my anorak off. If we’d have been doing the sunset poetry walk it would have been almost perfect. Almost, because the path was seriously flooded last week and although the water is going down it’s still a bit wet.

He only stood still for one photo, Mary. 🙂
It is a popular spot for dog-walking, but when the cows are over there, I have to give it a miss.
I hope the water clears up for you, though we also have some rain here today.
Best wishes, Pete.

Beautiful pics, Pete. Here it doesn’t get dark quite as early, but yesterday it never stopped raining. My mother thinks I brought the English weather with me, but it seems to be a generalised problem. Thinking of buying a canoe… I am hesitating between trying to catch up on your new series, but I am feeling inclined to wait until the end and enjoy it in one go… Have a great week and love to Ollie. He’s looking very handsome. ♥

Glad you liked the photos. Ollie is much better now that the weather has cooled down. 🙂
