As I have mentioned many times, I cannot get enough of this architectural loveliness!
The Addis toothbrush factory, Hertfordshire.
Another view of the De La Warr Pavilion at Bexhill, Sussex.
Two views of Marine Court, St Leonard’s-on-Sea. It was designed to look like a cruise liner.
The Midland Hotel in Morecambe, Lancashire. Featured in many TV shows, including ‘Poirot’.
An outdoor swimming pool (Lido) in Plymouth, Devon.
Surbiton Railway Station, Surrey.
A former cinema in London, now used as a religious meeting centre.
A great view on the past of architecture. xx Michael

Thanks, Sue. Some of my favourites here. I have always promised myself a stay in the Midland Hotel. I hope I hang around long enough to do that.

The red brick and glass block could have been where I grew up, a long way from England. And I drove past this house, and the neighborhood full of them on my way home from the first two years of high school.

There is some amazing Art Deco architecture in America, not least The Chrysler Building in NYC. Thanks for the photo, I would happily live in that house if it was in England. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Now they build ships that look like blocks of skyscrapers. I prefer buildings that look like ships.

Me too. When liners had so much more style.

I misread the toothbrush factory as Adidas and had a good laugh thinking of the shoe company making toothbrushes! Almost no Art Deco buildings here. Perhaps they just repurposed the old brick ones.

There is a lot of Art Deco in America, Elizabeth. The Chrysler Building in New York is one wonderful example.

I looked at a flat in Marine Court, Burton St Leonard’s, 10 years ago when I returned to live in UK after 3 years (happily) living in Germany! I was priced out of London and realized that I couldn’t afford the commute from Hastings, either….

It would have been stylish living, even though the Hastings area appeared to be sadly run-down the last time I was there.
Best wishes, Pete. x
